    Description

NO RESERVE. We're offering here a beautifully detailed 1/700 scale LCG(M) Landing Craft, Gun (Medium) model that's just come out of the 3D printer.
The Landing Craft Gun (Medium) craft was designed to engage and neutralize or destroy enemy coastal installations during landing operations. They carried 2-QF 17 pdr. Army Type guns in single offset turrets (interchangeable with 25 pdr. or 95 mm Howitzer) and 2-20 mm Oerlikon cannon and 2 Lewis guns. Two of these saw intense combat at Operation Infatuate, the Walcheren Operations on 1 November 1944 with both ultimately being lost in action. LCG(M)-101 headed straight towards shore through a barrage of shells and eventually beached within thirty meters of its target. Not one of the shells fired by its Royal Marine gun detachments missed that target, a pillbox north of the landing beach. Immobilized on the hostile beach, however, the craft made an easy target for German direct-fire weapons taking the beach enfilade. Miraculously, only two of the crew was lost. 56 of the type were completed before the war ended and, interestingly, one was used by the French in Indo-China.
We believe that the 3D printed model of the LCG(M)(1) offered here is the first ever produced in 1/700 scale. About the only quibbles are that the mast and the 20 mm Oerlikons are a bit too thick but they can be easily removed and
replaced with stretched sprue and/or PE parts to create a stunningly accurate representation. We've posted high resolution photos so you can judge for yourself. While photography of this little gems is a challenge for our limited skills and equipment, check out the details like the deck furniture, bridge and especially, the turrets with the 17-pdr guns. The scale in photo #10 is calibrated in inches. Camouflage pattern and colour reference included.
The surfaces are not perfectly smooth (3D printing is done in layers) but the plastic used can be sanded and painted much the same way you would handle resin or styrene. The models may still have some powder and oil-like agent on them that can be removed by washing in warm water with a drop of detergent added to it.
This beautiful Mark 1 LCG(M) model should be a welcome addition to any WW2 wargamer's or 1/700 modeler's collection, particularly those interested in Royal Marines amphibious operations. Please take a look at the other 1/700 scale landing craft and aircraft models that we have on auction as well. We're always happy to combine shipping for multiple purchases to save whenever possible. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions whatsoever.
